Do you keep it casual with your favorite t-shirt and hoodie? Or do you dress head-to-toe as your favorite Star Wars character? Or maybe wear a creative Disneybounding outfit and try the subtle approach? Here are some tips for what to wear at the Disney Star Wars hotel to ensure you look your best while adhering to Disney’s costume guidelines.

PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is permanently closed, with its final voyage taking place September 28-30, 2023.

From its opening in 2022 to its all-too-soon closure in late 2023, Galactic Starcruiser gave its passengers the once-in-a-lifetime experience of living out their Star Wars dreams in an immersive two-day adventure.

Though the Halcyon is no longer accepting passengers, we’re leaving this article published as a tribute to all of the amazing Imagineers, Cast Members, travel professionals, and Guests who made time spent onboard Galactic Starcruiser a true adventure.

What is the Dress Code at Disney Star Wars Hotel?

When you step aboard the Halcyon starcruiser, you’re transported to another galaxy where fantasy and excitement reign. As part of the experience, some guests may wonder if they are allowed, or even required, to dress up.

While themed clothing is not required, many guests choose to dress up in Star Wars-inspired attire. You might see people wearing costumes of their favorite characters or simply clothes that represent the light or dark side. It doesn’t matter whether you go all out with creative cosplay outfits or just wear your everyday t-shirts and jeans – choosing what to wear at the Disney Star Wars hotel is entirely up to you. No matter what you wear, you’re sure to enjoy your time at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

How Many Guests Dress in Star Wars Costumes?

Cosplay is a way for fans to show their love for the franchise by dressing up as their favorite characters. One of the most exciting aspects of staying at the Star Wars hotel is immersing yourself in the fantasy world, and dressing up in costume is the best way to do this! Everyone is welcome to dress up, whether young, old, or somewhere between. In our experience, slightly over half of Star Wars hotel guests dress up in some way.

Some people prefer to purchase official costumes (see video below), while others make their own.

Whether you’re wearing a simple Jedi robe or an elaborate replica of a Star Wars character, dressing up is a great way to make your stay at the Galactic Starcruiser even more memorable. Just stay within Disney’s costume guidelines (outlined below) to ensure a magical time with your fellow guests.

What to Wear If you DON’T Dress in Costume

When it comes to cosplaying at the Disney Star Wars hotel, there are no hard and fast rules. Some people may feel shy or uneasy about dressing up in a costume, while others simply prefer to wear everyday clothing for comfort. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide what they prefer.

The day-to-day dress style is pretty casual, with most guests wearing shorts or jeans with a t-shirt. Of course, Star Wars t-shirts and Aloha-style shirts are welcome, but certainly not required. The food at the Disney Star Wars hotel is served in a casual setting, but some guests dress up for the dinner show at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room or drinks at the Sublight Lounge.

Be sure to pack comfortable clothes for your stay aboard the Galactic Starcruiser, regardless of whether you choose to dress in Star Wars attire. Bring a jacket or sweatshirt for when the temperature drops in the evenings, and comfortable walking shoes are a must, as you’ll be doing a lot of walking while on board and on your day trip to Batuu. What to Wear if you DO Dress in Costume

During a visit to Disney theme parks, many guests dress in cosplay or costumes resembling their favorite Disney characters. The term used to describe this type of cosplay is “Disneybounding.”

Disneybounding at Disney World involves putting together an outfit that subtly pays homage to a particular character without going over the top. In some cases, people try to stick to a 75/25 ratio, in which 75% of your outfit consists of a costume while roughly 25% is regular clothing.

The process of designing costumes is a big part of the excitement leading up to your stay, and it helps pass the time before your trip starts.

Disneybounding vs. Batuu-bounding

The Disneybound experience at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel is often called “Batuu-bounding” because the theme park is located on the planet Batuu.

Batuu-bounding is essentially the same thing as Disneybounding, except visitors create a look designed to resemble a citizen of Batuu.

Creating your Batuu-Bound Outfits

When choosing an outfit for your Batuu-bound look, consider both comfort and style. You’ll want to be comfortable walking around all day, but you’ll also want your outfit to be recognizable as a Star Wars character. A simple way to do this is to choose a neutral base color (like black, white, or brown) and add accents that match your chosen character’s outfit. For example, wearing a white gown and bunning your hair like Princess Leia or wearing a dark vest like Han Solo. Guests at the Disney Star Wars hotel are encouraged to be creative with their outfits, but they must adhere to Disney’s costume guidelines above all else.

Wearing a Star Wars costume indicates to Cast Members and other guests that you are there to have fun. You’ll get lots of extra attention from the citizens of Batuu, so it’s a great way to socialize and immerse yourself in the experience.

Costume Guidelines for the Disney Star Wars Hotel

When sailing on the Halcyon, Disney wants you to have the time of your life and dress the part. They encourage all guests to wear fun and creative outfits that are in theme with Star Wars. However, safety is always the number one priority. Because of this, guests must follow specific requirements when deciding what to wear during their voyage. By following the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, you can be sure that you’ll have a safe and fun journey aboard the Halcyon.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’s costume policy

• Guests are not permitted to wear costumes that could distract from the experience of others.
• Guests are welcome to dress up as their favorite character, but they cannot pose for pictures or sign autographs.
• The costumes should be family-friendly and must not be offensive, obstructive, violent, or objectionable.
• Costumes, props, and accessories that resemble or could be mistaken for weapons are not allowed.
• Guests may not wear costumes that contain sharp objects or pointed items that could accidentally strike others.
• Layered costumes, or props that cover the entire body, are strongly discouraged and may result in additional security screenings.
• It is acceptable to wear transparent wings, toy swords, plastic lightsabers, and tutus as accessories. Guests may wear costume headwear as long as it does not cover their faces.
• Some costume masks are allowed for guests under 13; however, they must provide unobstructed peripheral vision and allow full eye visibility.
• Guests aged 14 and older are not permitted to wear costume masks.

Dress Code In Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Star Wars hotel guests should also be aware of the Hollywood Studios’ rules. As part of the dress code at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, all guests are required to comply with the following clothing requirements:

• There may be limitations on the length of costumes, such as robes that reach or drag on the ground.
• The length of the cape cannot extend below the waist.
• Guests may wear face paint as long as it does not cover more than 50% of their face.

Disneybounding (Batuu-Bounding) Costume Ideas

Dressing like a character is a popular pastime for fans of all ages, and Disney World is the perfect place to show off your fandom. In fact, cosplay is encouraged, particularly at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Disney Star Wars hotel within Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.

When visiting Batuu, there are a few things to remember when it comes to wardrobe. Many people choose to Disneybound as Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Rey, R2-D2, C-3PO, Ahsoka Tano, Princess Leia, the First Order, or the Resistance. This involves creating a look that resembles a citizen of Batuu. These looks can be very simple or more elaborate, according to the wearer’s preference. There are no wrong ways to be Batuu-bound, but some visitors dress roughly 75% in costume (and 25% in everyday clothes) at the Star Wars hotel and land. This ratio should be enough to convey who you are trying to portray.

Many people choose to wear cloaks and robes as they are often seen in Star Wars films. Others might don wigs, belts, headpieces, sunglasses, and lightsabers to create a more authentic look. When it comes to colors, earth tones, blacks, reds, and scarves are often seen on Batuu. Finally, visitors often dress in loose garments like linen or vests to keep cool in the heat and mimic Star Wars characters’ outfits.

Disneybounding as Han Solo

If you’re planning on Disneybounding as Han Solo at the Disney Star Wars hotel, you’ll want to keep your outfit simple. A loose, 3/4-sleeved, off-white shirt with a half-collar paired with black pants and a black vest is the perfect ensemble. And don’t forget your black boots! With this outfit, you’ll be ready to take on any adventure that comes your way.

Disneybounding as Princess Leia

There are plenty of ways to channel your inner Leia, whether you’re looking to recreate her iconic look from A New Hope or perhaps something from The Last Jedi. First and foremost, you’ll need a white dress or gown. Luckily, many options are available online, from simple and loose-fitting white gowns to more elaborate designs adorned with beads and sequins. Once your gown is sorted out, it’s time to add the finishing touches. If you want to capture Leia’s signature hairstyle, consider investing in a wig with hair buns. You can also style your own hair if possible. And don’t forget the accessories! A pair of silver hoop earrings and a belt are essential for completing the look. With a little effort, you’ll be ready to take on the role of everyone’s favorite Rebel leader.

Disneybounding as Chewbacca

For Chewie, try jeans or shorts with a brown shirt or sweater for a casual take on the iconic Wookiee. Add a furry vest or jacket and pair of boots to finish the look. If you want to go all out, you can add fake fur to your clothing and accessories to capture Chewie’s signature look. If you’d rather go subtle, a fun Chewbacca-inspired t-shirt will do the trick.
