It can be argued that Uber is the most convenient and affordable way to get from the airport to Disney World.
Taking a standard Uber vehicle from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World Resort costs around $35. The price increases to above $40 if you request a specialty vehicle.
Add to that, an Uber ride between the airport and Disney World takes less than 30 minutes. There are no stops along the way and the comfort factor rivals that of a taxi (sometimes better).
Let’s explore why taking an Uber from the Orlando airport to Disney World is a great idea, and how much an Uber ride from the airport will cost you.
How much does a ride between Orlando International Airport and Disney World cost with the Uber app?
Let’s say you are staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (right near Magic Kingdom). According to Google maps, the ride between Orlando International Airport and the Grand Floridian hotel is 24.5 miles via highways FL-528 and I-4 W. That equates to about 26-minutes of driving time without traffic.
Based on Uber’s price estimator, the least expensive Uber option is the Connect, followed by the standard UberX. You can also opt for a larger or fancier vehicle – or one for pets or equipped with car seats – but specialty Ubers do cost more than your standard UberX.
So how much will cost to go from the Orlando Airport to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? The answer is $35.25 for an UberX. Your fare will increase or decrease depending on which type of vehicle you request.
The fares listed below are based on the type of car you choose. These are the current (January 2023) rates and are subject to change. I would encourage you to use the Uber price estimator for the most up-to-date pricing.
Uber Vehicle Options and Fares between Orlando International Airport and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa:
- Connect – $28.96
- UberX – $35.25
- Uber Green – $35.25
- Uber Pet – $39.25
- Comfort – $46.08
- UberX Car Seat – $45.25
- UberXL – $51.72
- UberXL Car Seat – $61.72
- MT Connect – $100.04
- Black – $81.34
- Black Car Seat – $91.34
- Black SUV Car Seat – $105.84
- Black Hourly – $107.83
Please note that Uber uses a pricing model it calls “dynamic pricing” also know as surge price. This simply means that fares are subject to increase when there is higher demand. In other words, normal Uber fares increase during peak hours.
There’s really no way of knowing when dynamic pricing will kick into effect but we have some guesses: during school vacation weeks, holidays, weekends, special events, or just around the morning rush to the theme parks. Why take an Uber to Disney World
As you probably know, Uber is a ride-sharing service;
It’s has become one of the most popular modes of transportation these days and many vacationers are now using it to get around Orlando.
Uber is a great service because you don’t need to rent a car, share a shuttle bus with other guests, or pay the high fees of a taxi.
All you need to do is download the Uber app, link up your credit card information, and then hail a ride with your smartphone. The driver should arrive promptly.
Drivers use their own vehicle (UberX) and they are required to keep their vehicle clean and in good working order.
As they pick you up, it will be just you, your travel companions, and the Uber driver for the duration of the ride. It’s really easy to use and it WILL save you time and money.
Magical Express Was Discontinued After 2021
In previous years, guests relied on Magical Express shuttle service to get to their Disney hotel. Unfortunately, Magical Express was discontinued at end of 2021. So even though Orlando International is still the closest airport to Disney World, Guests must now find alternative transportation between Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World Resort.
You could rent a car or hail a taxi, but those options will be much more expensive. Ubers are significantly cheaper than using a taxi and much more practical than renting an entire car. You won’t need to pay for packing and you really have no need for a rental car because Disney Transportation is free and readily available throughout the park.
For all these reasons, we think Uber is the best way to travel between Orlando’s airport and Walt Disney World.
