Frequently Asked Questions
Can I walk to Magic Kingdom from Shades of Green Resort?
No. The pedestrian path from Shades of Green to the Polynesian (and Magic Kingdom) is permanently closed following the World Drive expansion project. Guests must now use the resort’s bus transportation to reach the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC).
Can I walk to Disney’s Animal Kingdom (theme park) from any Disney World resort?
No, not even from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villas. Despite the hotel’s proximity to the park, there are currently no pedestrian paths between them (only bus service).
Can I walk to Disney Springs from any Disney World hotel?
It depends. A pedestrian bridge connects Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa to Disney Springs. However, Saratoga Springs is a large campus-style resort, and it may not be a convenient walk if your room/building isn’t located near the bridge. It’s also possible to reach Disney Springs on foot from Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Still, portions of the path are available only during daylight hours, and the level of convenience will again depend on where you’re located in Old Key West (also a large campus-style resort). Some off-site hotels along Hotel Boulevard may also be within convenient walking distance of Disney Springs. It’s worth noting that Disney Springs is free to enter for all visitors, so it’s a great spot to walk to in the evening!
Can you walk between Disney World theme parks?
Yes. You can walk between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios; it’s a little over one mile from entrance to entrance (about 30 minutes), so most people take a boat instead. There’s no way to walk between Animal Kingdom and another park or between Magic Kingdom and another park.
Are any Disney World hotels within walking distance of the water parks?
It depends. It is technically possible – though not necessarily practical – to walk to Blizzard Beach water park from either Coronado Springs Resort or the All-Star Resorts (I’d recommend taking the bus instead). However, there are no pedestrian paths to Typhoon Lagoon, and it is therefore unsafe to attempt to walk to that water park from any hotels that might appear to be nearby on the map.
Are any off-site hotels within walking distance of Disney World?
Yes, kind of. While you can’t walk to the theme parks from off-site, several “Official Disney World Hotels” in the Disney Springs area (like the Drury Plaza, Hilton Buena Vista Palace, and Wyndham Garden) are just a 5–10 minute walk to Disney Springs via dedicated pedestrian bridges. From there, you can catch a bus* to any Disney resort, and then take Disney transportation to one of the four parks.
* NOTE: During extremely busy periods such as Spring Break or Christmas, these buses may be limited to Guests who are actually staying at that resort.

I’m 100% disabled veteran do I get a discount on the hotels or parks
Hi Tom — thank you so much for your service. Disney does offer some ticket and hotel discounts for active and retired military, but they change from year to year. Right now we only know about Military discounts for the remainder of 2024. I would estimate (but cannot be certain) that Disney will announce 2025 military discounts later this month (October). There are no separate discounts for Guests with disabilities, but there is a Disability Access Service which may be of some assistance while you’re in the parks. However, I’ll caution that this offering has changed significantly over the past year and many disability advocates have said it is not as helpful as it used to be.
Hi again, Tom. I wanted to come back to this comment to let you know Disney has announced its 2025 military discounts. They’re very similar to the 2024 promotion, and I’ve updated that Military Discounts article (linked in my other comment) with the info.
